Professional Experience
Paul-Marie Chavanne began his career at the French Ministry of the Economy and Finance after graduating from the École Nationale d’Administration (ENA), serving in the French Government Finance Inspectorate (“Inspection des Finances”) and at the French Treasury.
He subsequently built a long-standing career in the private sector, holding senior executive roles for more than three decades within leading industrial groups. He served as Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Soparges (1989–1991) and of Automobiles Citroën (1991–1997), before being appointed Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Strafor-Facom (1997–1999) and Autodistribution (1999–2001).
In 2001, he was appointed Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Geopost, the parcel delivery division of the Groupe La Poste. Under his leadership, Geopost sustained international expansion and established itself as the second-largest operator in Europe. He stepped down in 2020 after nearly two decades in this role.
Since 2020, Paul-Marie Chavanne has held positions as a board member and non-executive director. He notably serves as Chairman of the Board of Egis.
